It is such a shame, that to use functions like io_add_watch(), you have to have a connection to X. This prevents us from creating "real" server-applications, which can run on a machine without any graphical user-interface running on it.

Does anyone know how to get around this? Is there another extension which can do the same as io_add_watch(), timeout_add() and more? Or is it possible to "fake a X-server"?

The site has just been ported to a new virtual dedicated server, no longer on a shared hosting plan, and should now be significantly faster than it used to be.

Since this entailed some significant changes, by all means contact support in case anything seems changed or incorrect in any way.

Not sure if it's the right place to post following comments, but maybe someone of the dev team will read them. ;)

I just discover/use GTk right now, and I really like all the stuff done. Really helpful.
I have few remarks about however...

- Like GTK is most used to create application with user interface, GLADE should be better supported by the GTK-PHP project. Currently there is no way to get last gtk-php package with the last winglade release in one shot... The php.ini file need to be edited to add/uncomment glade extensions...
