Interim news from the PHP-GTK team: progress being made between versions, new features added...

New layout on the official website of the php-gtk (http://gtk.php.net/)

Good day,

I changed the official website of the php-gtk at http://gtk.php.net/

  • Now it is multi-language.
  • For now the site is in English and Portuguese Brazil.
  • Today we have few links, but I hope that the community help us make improvements.
  • 5361 files were changed for me, including the manual files which now has four formats for download.
  • Next week I shall provide a page where you will know how to help the project.
  • With the release of PHP 7, I will start the development of php-gtk 3.

I ask those who want to publicize your software, to send screens and a description in Portuguese and English so I put on the official website.

Thank you

Fixed incompatibility between extensions and core due to version mismatch

You can install only PHP-GTK core files, the full install or choose what to install. Made with Inno Setup, questions, suggestions and feature requests are welcome

pkStart - yet another start menu

From my first uses of PHP-GTK, I found it lacked an installer. Something that gives more confidence than zillions of zipped files. Thus was born PiGii.

Months later, I needed a "tail" utility for MS-Windows. Thus appeared pkTail.

A few weeks later, I searched for an application launcher: something similar to the well-known "Start" menu. The time had come for pkStart.

  • The pkStart icon (with its tip) in the system tray:

New PHP-GTK 2 OSUM

I created a new PHP-GTK group in the Open Source University Meetup from SUN. The link is:

Glade 3 (3.4.1) Build for Windows (Installer Included)

Glade 3 running on LinuxRecently I have had the obligation to develop desktop applications for Windows platforms in a fast and practical, to make this happens I decided to use Glade.

The only problem is that I've been using Linux for over 4 years and 2 years since I have not developed anything under/for Windows, but nothing is forever and this time is no an exception.

At first, I searched a lot through the internet looking for something already done, in my search I found a few projects, but none that were not updated to run in an acceptable manner, at the end I lost too much time, so I decided to take control of things and make my own compilation of gtk + libraries for Windows and finally achieve the power to run Glade properly.

After a few days (1 and an half, actually) trying to run my favorite software for the design of graphical user interfaces (Glade) under Windows, I finally succeeded.

This was my result.

So I've decided to create an installation script and publish it for anyone who needs Glade on Windows... you can get in an easy way, just a click away.

PHP-GTK 2 is Here !

After a long development and QA cycle, we are proud to release version 2.0 of PHP-GTK. This release, named leap day special, marks PHP-GTK 2 as stable and comes with support for GTK+ versions 2.6 through 2.12. Although support for more recent versions than 2.8 is not 100% complete, we hope to cover as much of the API as possible in upcoming releases.

This release comes with support for custom GTypes and signals, more API coverage, and the usual slew of bug fixes. Take a look at the Changelog for detailed information on changes since the beta.

If you're looking to learn PHP-GTK, the documentation is a great place to start. There's also an excellent book from Apress by Scott Mattocks on the topic. We hope you will enjoy developing applications with PHP-GTK 2. Please don't hesitate to file bug reports at the bug tracker, or give us feedback on the php-gtk-general mailing list. Have fun!
